COVID-19 and Cusco Tourism — After 107 days of a strict and rigid nationwide quarantine due to the Corona Pandemic – that began on March 15, 2020 and ended on June 30, 2020 – most of Peru is now enjoying some more ease and freedom. Restaurants and shops are open – with 40 or 50% of their capacity. Some regions, as for instance Arequipa, Ica, and Madre de Dios are still currently under a mandatory quarantine because their COVID-19 cases are still increasing.
Cusco is currently one of the regions with fewer cases of COVID-19. All people are now mandated to use a mask in public and Cusco is under a curfew; schools are still closed, group gatherings are banned and all activity is subject to strict health and safety protocol.
