EU Representative to Peru, Hans Allden, has assured Andina news agency that travellers and tourists from Europe are not concerned or put off by the recent potential kidnapping threat of US embassy workers in the Cusco area.
He asserted that this was because of the country’s known great history, along with the up-and-coming cuisine that the rest of the world is witnessing and becoming accustomed to nowadays.
"The US security alert has not aroused much attention in Europe, as far as I know, I have not seen any European country that has warned its citizens on Cusco or Machu Picchu," Allden said in a statement to Andina news agency.
With the high season looming and the Multi-Party Trade Agreement, tourism is sure to pick up over the next few months, which should further increase European tourism in Peru.
Due to this fact, there are further economic advantages, as more and more airlines will send direct flights to Lima.
Likewise, he pointed out the prospects for Peruvian inbound tourism are positive, due to there is more interest of the European flag carriers for starting direct flights to Peru.
