US ambassador invites Americans to visit Machu Picchu

All tourists from all over the world and especially all Americans, have been invited by Rose M. Likins, the American Ambassador in Peru, to visit Machu Picchu, the famous Inca Citadel next to Cusco. A few weeks ago, in February, it was Ms. Likins that put a travel alert for all American people visiting the Cusco area, but she lifted this warning a few days ago. Ambassador Likins confirmed now that she traveled to Cusco and Machu Picchu, together with the Peruvian Minister of Tourism Jose Luis Silvia and others, to invite not only the Americans, but the entire world. “We are here to show that tourists can visit Machu Picchu, Cusco and Machu Picchu Pueblo” (also called Aguas Calientes), she added.
