Cusco to attract 300,000 tourists in June

Next month, June 2013, Cusco's Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) is expecting an influx of around 300,000 tourists from Peru and around the world, who are coming to experience the traditional festivals held in June!

According to Madison Barreto Jara, head of Dircetur, Cusco was host to 2.2 million tourists in 2012 and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) anticipates the arrival of 2.5 million visitors during the year 2013!

The estimate was based on traveler information collected from hotels in Cusco, the local airport, and Cusco´s bus terminal.

The main tourist attractions during the month of June will be the traditional festivals like Inti Raymi (or the Festival of the Sun) and traditional folk parades.

The majority of the foreign visitors will likely be from the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asian countries.
