The month June is known in the Cusco region as the month of celebrations, such as Q’oyoriti, Corpus Cristi and, of course, the Into Raymi. Every year the region attracts a lot of tourists during this time of the year. In June of this year, Cusco reached a total of 217 056 visitors, both Peruvians and foreigners. According to Directur, the regional office for foreign trade and tourism, this number means an increase of 3.4% compared to the amount of visitors in June 2013. Most of these tourists are from the United States, followed by tourists from Brazil, France, Argentina, United Kingdom and Japan. Not only was there a rise during the month of June, they noticed as well an increase of 6% in the period from January to April. According to estimates, in total, nearly 2.8 million touristswill visit the city this year.
