Monseñor Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia has been named Archbishop by Pope Francis. The new Archbishop of Cusco is the former Bishop of Tarma. The news was announced by Bishop Juan Antonio Ugarte Pérez, who is the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of the city of Cusco. He asks the congregation to pray for the new Archbishop in order for him to fulfill his duty well.
Monseñor Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia belongs to the Order of Friars Minor and was ordained priest on December 8, 1976. He studied philosophy and theology at the Pontificial Faculty of Theology and Civil Lima.
