More than a thousand children from Cusco have so far participated in campaigns this year to prevent drug use. The campaigns are organized by the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) in public and private educational institutions in the region. The purpose of these activities is to reduce consumption of legal and illegal drugs among school children and to strengthen and promote behaviors and attitudes of rejection of this scourge. Among other actions, Devida conducted information sessions with mobile galleries to talk directly to students about the benefits of leading a healthy life away from drugs and alcohol. Public and private educational institutions that have participated in these activities are Uriel García, Diego Quispe Titto, Humberto Luna, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, Luis Gonzaga, Clorinda Matto de Turner, Educandas, Santa Rosa, San Martín y La Salle.
