Last night at around 7 o’ clock there was a little earthquake in Cusco. The epicenter was north of Coracora but it was felt throughout the south of Peru in Huancavelica, Apurimac, Arequipa and Cusco. The level of intensity is said to be between 6.6 and 7.0 degrees on the Richter Scale. According to the Navy of Peru, no Tsunami warning was given out. Fishermen were advised to leave the sea to be safe. Experts have said that this is an earthquake generated by subduction of the Nazca plate under the South American plate. Civil Defense and the authorities have not reported any casualties. There have been power fails though in most of the southern areas.
