Foreigners will pay more to enter Machu Picchu

Foreigners will pay more to enter Machu Picchu starting on the first of January 2017.

The entrance to the Incan city will raise 24 soles for adults and 12 soles for university students. Furthermore, tourists who also want to visit the famous mountains of Wayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain or the Inkaraqay trail will have to pay 48 soles more for the entrance fees.

Moreover, the department of culture of Cusco made this decision in order to agree on international standards of the UNESCO and to guarantee an adequate care of the world heritage site.

Not only has the Archaeological park of Raqchi had a raise in prices, but also the entrance of Choquecquirao.

Cusco`s cultural director said that national tourists will not see a raise in prices.
