The National Police and the Attorney General intervened in the town of Pisac, Cusco. Two citizens of the United States and another twelve people of Spanish, French, Argentinean and Chilean nationality were staying in Peru illegally. Also they were involved in tourism activities such as selling crafts on the streets. The police are now trying to verify their stay in the country. The two Americans were taken to State Security because they violated the immigration law. The illegal foreigners were caught after complaints from neighbors about drug abuse. Emerson Suárez Achahui, Lieutenant of Pisac, said that in recent days neighbor complaints were received about the backpackers. They caused discomfort by selling crafts, playing music and sometimes even begging. After being identified, the travelers have been warned not to continue the tourist activities, as this is the condition under which they agreed to come to Peru.
